Novak Djoković doing what he does best: playing tennis.

After winning the stage in front of an Australian court in the corona jumble, the superstar first went to train as if everything was as usual.

But the theater of his entry to Australia continues.

A court had canceled the cancellation of his entry visa on Monday, the tennis player was allowed to leave the quarantine hotel in Melbourne, in which he had been staying since last week - and can hope to participate in the Australian Open.

Djoković is not vaccinated against Corona and therefore needs a special permit in order to be allowed to enter Australia.

This is based on a positive corona test from December 16, 2021. Opinions about the case are divided on the street in Melbourne.

Local residents

»It seems he's doing what he wants.

We got vaccinated and had long lockdowns and he gondolas around doing what he wants because he's the best tennis player in the world. "

Resident

»I don't understand why such a big deal is made of this.

Just let him play.

The prerequisite is, of course, that he obeys our rules. "

Residents

»He is an egoist and has not been vaccinated.

He doesn't seem to be too specific about the truth.

He also has no understanding of Covid and what the people of Victoria have been through.

He was supposed to be sent back on the next flight and his father should have a word with him instead of standing in Serbia and causing absolute chaos. "

The tennis player's parents and brother appeared in front of the press on Monday and spoke of a conspiracy against their son, among other things.

When asked why the tennis player appeared publicly one day after his allegedly positive corona test and even without a mask and distance rules, they ended their press conference abruptly.

But is Djoković's test correct?

SPIEGEL and other media scanned the QR code of the test form, which Djokovic presented himself upon arrival, on January 10, 2022 - the test result was negative, it was initially said.

A good hour later, the test result is suddenly positive.

An explanation for this is still pending.

Djoković could put a spanner in the works with further details from his immigration form.

Apparently he had stated that he had not been traveling in the 14 days prior to his entry.

Photos and videos on his channels in social networks seem to prove the opposite.

It remains to be seen whether the world number one will actually be able to play at the Australian Open from next Monday.

Australian Immigration Minister Alex Hawke could still revoke his visa.
