For some, Pokémon GO is a real addiction.

This is probably also the case with two policemen who preferred to hunt Pokémon instead of chasing criminals.

Los Angeles - Even five years after its release, Pokémon GO * keeps players under its spell.

So much so that some people couldn't keep their hands off their cell phones while at work or doing other important things.

In most professions, this is probably not a problem if you briefly distract yourself with Pokémon hunting.

In California, however, two police officers were unable to break away from Pokémon * GO and preferred to hunt Pokémon rather than hunt criminals.

Pokémon GO: Police officers prefer to catch Pokémon rather than go on the hunt for criminals

What happened?

Two officers from the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) were on duty and on patrol in 2017. Meanwhile, the two officers were apparently playing Pokémon GO. A sound recording was played in court in which the two talked about Pokémon that appeared. According to official information, the two were on their way to a Relaxo when a Togetic appeared on the display.

A quick look at the cell phone or the pastime with Pokémon GO when nothing is pending shouldn't be too difficult.

The problem with the incident, however, was that the two police officers had actually been called to a robbery.

But instead of going there and hunting down criminals, the two decided to want to catch Relaxo and Togetic.

What were the consequences for the police officers?

This faux pas did not go unnoticed, of course, and the police officers not only received a reprimand, but were also expelled from duty. The two appealed against the termination in court because they allegedly had not played Pokémon GO during working hours. According to their own statement, the two officers had "

only had one conversation about Pokémon GO

" as one of the two regularly received text messages and notifications from a Pokémon GO player group.

This statement was exposed as a lie because the conversation between the two police officers was recorded in the car.

You can clearly hear an officer saying that "

a Togetic just showed up

" and giving the exact spawn location.

Anyone who has already played Pokémon GO knows that this information can only be obtained while playing.

The police lodge an appeal - the court delivers a clear verdict

How did the court decide now?

After the two police officers appealed against their dismissal, the court has finally decided.

After the hearing, the court ruled that the two police officers' dismissals are final.

After all, both of them played Pokémon GO instead of doing their police duties.

Clearly, it's pretty hard for some to resist Pokémon GO.

As long as you don't hunt Pokémon while you work, that shouldn't normally be a problem.

In January 2022, numerous events are also scheduled again.

The new Community Day Classic will soon take place in Pokémon GO *.

In addition, fans can currently help Niantic improve the raids in Pokémon GO *.

A survey is currently taking place in which you are given items worth 13 euros as a reward.
