That sounds tempting to many.
This is possible on a cruise ship, even if the jobs on board have a bad reputation.
Insiders keep reporting long working hours and dumping wages.
But what about salary * really?
How much do employees make on a cruise ship like the Aida?
Salary and working conditions on the Aida
According to research by the Ostesee-Zeitung
, employees of the Rostock shipping company
Aida Cruises
earn
between 709 euros a month and a whopping 100,000 euros a year
. The salary depends, of course, on the job. In addition, different collective agreements and remuneration agreements that have been agreed with the respective trade union apply. Food
on board is free, as is accommodation
and uniforms. According to the
Ostsee-Zeitung
, the working and rest times of the crew are based
on the standards of the internationally applicable Maritime Labor Convention. Interesting to know: Around 25 percent of the Aida crew comes from Germany and Europe, 75 percent of the employees come from Asia, such as the Philippines.

Apprentices
from Germany start their first year of apprenticeship on the Aida (for example a clerk for office management or IT specialist for system integration) with
709 euros gross
per month.
The rest of the salaries are negotiated individually and are based on specialist knowledge and work experience.

Salary on cruise ships
The salaries on cruise ships naturally vary from one shipping company to another.
According to
Salary.de
, a
starting salary of around 1,800 euros and 2,300 euros net per month
is possible in the industry - depending on the area of responsibility.
Work is carried out on board seven days a week and the employees are often only given six-month contracts.
The following free time, usually two months, is
usually paid for by the shipping companies, according to
