The directive will take effect on Wednesday at midnight • Verified without signs in the last three days will be able to leave isolation • Those who do not - will complete ten days of isolation

The Director General of the Ministry of Health, Prof. Nachman Ash, decided today (Tuesday) to shorten the isolation days for verified Corona to 7 days, with the last three days without symptoms. The decision will take effect at midnight between Wednesday and Thursday.

Prior to the decision, the Ministry of Health has conducted in recent weeks among about 80 verified Omicron, which included pcr tests and special tests to grow the virus once every two days.

The results collected so far show that the chance of growing a live virus after seven days of illness is low and stands at about 6% (out of 15 cultures taken after day 7 only one culture was positive).

These data were presented to the UAV, which yesterday recommended shortening the isolation to seven days (instead of the 10 days introduced so far).

In light of these data, the director general of the ministry, Prof. Nachman Ash, instructed to shorten the sick days, as long as the person has no symptoms during the last 3 days of isolation. In case of continued symptoms, 10 days of isolation must be completed.

Health Minister Nitzan Horowitz said: "The isolation for the verified is shortened to 7 days. The study conducted by Ministry of Health experts shows that the chance of Omicron being infected after this period is very low. We will not require isolation beyond what is required to maintain health and the economy. "Education, culture and to maintain as much as possible the routine of life alongside the corona."

The director general of the Ministry of Health, Prof. Nachman Ash, said: “We decided to shorten the number of days of isolation after examining the issue and finding that the chance of infection beyond a week is low.

This decision will help the economy continue to operate in the high conditions of illness, while maintaining public health. "
