Exhausted, discouraged, at the end of their rope ... The caregivers of the public hospital took to the streets on Monday, to challenge the government on the crisis they have been going through for years. Lack of beds, resources, poorly valued salaries, not to mention the successive waves of Covid-19 over the past two years which have ended up discouraging more than one. Among the 3000 demonstrators in the Parisian procession, Karine, a young nurse at the public hospital, describes a daily life at work which "is no longer tenable". “I have just entered the profession and I see colleagues who have been there for over ten years, exhausted.
Even the youngest are at their wit's end.
And I'm afraid to be like them in the coming months, ”breathes the young woman behind her mask, who fears above all that the public hospital will one day close.
“We arrive in the morning and we are told that we are no longer four, but that we are alone.
Or that in the evening, you don't finish at 7 p.m. but at 10 p.m.
It's really shit, I see colleagues in a pitiful state when we are there to treat people, ”worries Karine.
