The other passengers had probably not expected that: A woman gave birth to a child on a bus on line 867 in Rio de Janeiro.
The woman got help from other passengers during the birth, reported the Brazilian media, citing passengers.
The incident took place in Campo Grande in the west of the Brazilian metropolis.
"Everyone urged the driver to hurry to get to the nearest hospital," the Brazilian news portal "G1" quoted the salesman Jordy Monteiro on Tuesday (local time).
A video that was shown on Brazilian television showed a paramedic leaving the bus with the newborn in his arms, followed by the woman.
"I'm sorry people"
According to the news portal »G1«, the young mother apologized for having disrupted the journey.
"I'm sorry, folks," the portal quoted the woman as saying.
However, none of the passengers minded the unexpected delay, it said.
Rather, the video showed passengers cheering and congratulating.
"We were a little late, but it was for a good cause," said salesman Monteiro loudly "G1".
The mother and boy are reportedly doing fine.
