(ANSA) - NAPLES, 12 JAN - "I am happy to be vaccinated, now I can fight better against covid. I almost want to do the booster too". These are the words of Paolo, one of the first children who received the vaccine at the 'Piscicelli' elementary school in Naples which is now a vaccination hub. Children and parents have lined up outside the gym since this morning.
246 children will receive the vaccination today. Yesterday at 10 the principal, Gabriella Talamo, had to stop the reservations because the numbers were getting too high.
Vaccines at school that are not reserved only for students of the complex but open to the city community. The staff of the Napoli 1 ASL welcomes the children, who after the vaccination 'distracts' the vaccinated children with games. Babies are given a medal after the vaccine. "It was my son who asked me to be vaccinated - says a mother - and I think that getting vaccinated at school is better, both for us as a matter of organization and to avoid long lines but also for them who know the environment and find themselves among friends" . Children who do not fail to immortalize the post vaccine with a photo. "My daughter is taking the first dose today - says a dad - as soon as we learned of this possibility we booked ourselves also because my wife has pathologies and therefore it is essential for us to protect ourselves "." I was not afraid - adds the child - now I feel safer and so together we will defeat ilcovid ". And it is precisely the parents in line who make an appeal to those families who fear vaccination for themselves and their children:" We need to get vaccinated - many say - it is the only tool we have to get out of this nightmare for our children ". The school - as the principal explained - immediately replied to the letter sent last December 10 by the President of the Region, Vincenzo DeLuca, and by the councilor, Lucia Fortini."I am convinced that getting the vaccine at school makes both families and children feel calmer because school is their second home - the principal emphasizes - after Christmas the virus is growing and the hope of all of us is that the vaccine can reduce circulation and make it become endemic ".
