(ANSA) - WASHINGTON, 12 JAN - An extensive research by American studios on about 70,000 Covid positive patients (not yet verified by colleagues) has shown a substantially reduced risk of hospitalization and deaths with the Omicron variant compared to the Delta one, and this regardless of the level of immunity in the population. People infected with Omicron had a risk of being hospitalized equal to half less than those infected with Delta, while the danger of ending up in intensive care was reduced by about 75% and that of dying by over 90%. none of people with Omicron needed an artificial respirator, compared to 11 of the 17 million with Delta. Furthermore, the average length of hospitalization was 1.5 days with Omicron compared to 5 for Delta.
The study, which corroborates the data accumulated by other countries, such as South Africa and Great Britain, was conducted by researchers from the University of California, Berkeley, Kaiser Permanente and the CDC, the US federal agenda against the spread of diseases.
