Darmanin wants to "reach out" to young people in difficulty by helping them to enter the public service

The Minister of the Interior wants to create support classes in difficult districts of France from the next school year to allow


Gérald Darmanin expressed Wednesday his wish to open classes in difficult neighborhoods, second chance type, in order to allow young dropouts to prepare for public service competitions.

"The challenge is to be able to tell all these young people in these neighborhoods, a large part of whom are not in delinquency and are trying to get out of it, (we will) reach out to you", argued the Minister of Interior guest of CNews.

"A second chance school, new formula"

About a hundred of these classes would be open in each of the 100 “republican reconquest” districts.

The latter would be placed under the leadership of the Interior, prefects, sub-prefects, and other officials of the Ministry of the Interior, to provide support or evening classes and help young people who wish to prepare for competitive entrance examination into the public service.

It is "a kind of second chance school, a new formula," continued Gérald Darmanin.

Before adding: "If it works, we will generalize" the device.

According to the Minister's entourage, this device could be tested at the start of the next school year.
