Trust, future and wearable technology. These are the keywords of the 101 edition of Pitti Uomo, at the start of the Fortezza da Basso in Florence with 580 brands confirmed in attendance. A certain number lower than the traditional editions of the fair (it counted over a thousand), but doubled compared to June 2021: at that time there were 260 brands. An edition that started with many difficulties: an increase in infections in recent weeks, companies undecided on participation, professionals dealing with international travel, security provisions to access the fair. "Making this fair was very difficult, it was much easier not to do it - said the president of Pitti Claudio Marenzi at the opening conference - but the healthy decision was to do it, for the system, to give confidence,a signal and a vision to a sector that needs it ".

The sector is that of menswear, which in 2021 in Italy, according to the data of Sistema Moda Italia, experienced a return in the positive area with a turnover in recovery of + 11.9% (reaching 9.1 billion euros) . To hearten the export data: after the abrupt stop in 2020 (-16.7%), in 2021 an estimated growth of 11.2%. The presence of buyers at the show is therefore crucial (2,712 Italians and 982 registered foreigners) where companies seek redemption, presenting the best of the autumn / winter 2022/23 collections. Brands that focus heavily on technological innovation, to produce performing garments in total respect for the environment. Among the materials, the musts are nylon and water repellent organic cotton, with elastic and technical properties, while the hot stitching processes triumph, guaranteeing maximum protection against rain and wind. A style loved by the Finnish designer Rolf Ekroth, the protagonist today of an online presentation in which he celebrates the 90s: oversized shapes, cuts that evoke the shape of motorcyclist trousers, 90s prints. With a view to sustainability, pieces of the past are reused: the cords found in the studio have undergone a metamorphosis that involves hundreds of hours of hand fraying to create sweaters similar to fake fur. Among the (few) presentations scheduled today that of Alphatauri, a Red Bull brand, with a capsule collection with 'smart' fabrics: a special technology is integrated into the garments to ensure an individually adjustable temperature, with an interactive control via app. The garments have a hidden battery pack that can also be used to charge the smartphone. Then there are those who use technologies in favor of sustainability, such as Husky Original which presents the new course: the well-known jackets of the past will be revisited in a green key, with recycled wadding and goose down for the padding. The opening of other single-brand stores in Milan and Paris, London and Rome has also been announced. Instead + Three launches Cellulove: a no-season collection of bro-tex cellulose bags deriving from recycled materials from the industry.the well-known jackets of the past will be revisited in a green key, with recycled wadding and goose down for the padding.     Technology also rhymes with performance and therefore sport: Pollini presents a shoe capsule inspired by the Olympic Winter Games in Beijing, while the Spanish motorcyclist Toni Elias launches a footwear brand, Elias024, with his sister Laura.

Then there is the technology reserved for pleasure, with the world of sex toys returning to Pitti Uomo, with Lelo, a Swedish company that produces highly hi-tech erotic games, among which the novelty is F1S V2.

Sounds like the name of a nuclear reactor, it's a console designed for male pleasure.
