The faction of the CDU and CSU had called for the deadline for submitting tax returns for 2020 to be extended to the end of August due to the corona crisis.

Because of the high workload in the pandemic, this is currently difficult, the taxpayers' association had also argued.
The tax advisors also applied for economic aid and took care of the short-time work allowance.
In the current crisis, they were therefore increasingly pushed to their limits.

According to a statement from the Bundestag, the SPD parliamentary group argued that the deadline had already been extended once. If there is to be a further extension, it must apply not only to tax advisors, but also to taxpayers who submit their tax returns on their own.
