VIDEO. "It's the Tinder of politics": Elyze, the application that wants to reconcile young people with the vote

The principle ? Swipe between the different metrics of presidential candidates to determine which one is best for you

At only 19 and 22 years old, François Mari and Grégoire Cazcarra can claim to have hit the nail on the head.

Their “Politics Tinder” overtook the real Tinder, with 500,000 downloads in just eight days.

Elyze is the most downloaded from the Play Store and App Store right now.

The recipe for success ?

A game on form and policy in substance.

We must indeed “swipe” between different measures proposed by the presidential candidates, to the left if we do not agree, to the right if we are.

After a certain number of swipes, an algorithm tells us with which candidate we have the most affinities.

“Elyze is the app that wants to reconcile our generation with the vote,” says Grégoire. In the last regional and departmental elections, 9 out of 10 young people did not go to vote. It is really this ambition of trying to fight against abstention that drives us ”. Five years ago, Grégoire created the movement of the Engaged, which François joined shortly after. They organize meetings between young people and public decision-makers, to encourage his generation to take an interest in politics. “I see how difficult it is to get all the young people,” he says. But we are convinced that with a technological tool that is free, fun and accessible to as many people as possible, we can really change the situation. "

On social networks, the app leaves no one indifferent: if they are not all convinced to vote, 18-30 year olds are at least intrigued.

It will be necessary to wait until 2022 to observe a potential effect on the ballot boxes, for an election where 4 million young people will vote for the first time.
