(ANSA) - GENEVA, 13 JAN - The life sentence issued by a German court against a former Syrian colonel for crimes against humanity in his war-torn country marks a "historic step" towards justice.
This was stated by the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet.
"This is an important step forward in the search for truth, justice and redress for the serious violations of human rights perpetrated in Syria over more than a decade," Bachelet said in a statement.
