Omicron is now the dominant and common corona variant in most countries of the world, including here in Israel.

In recent weeks it has been shown to cause unique symptoms that have not been identified with previous variants.

For example, we told you that it infects more the throat area and less the lungs and airways in the nose, for this reason it causes hoarseness and sore throat more often and also more difficult to detect in antigen tests that guide to collect a sample from the nostrils and not the throat and pharynx.

While the Delta variant and its predecessors were characterized by unique symptoms such as persistent cough, fever and loss of taste and smell, the omicron seems to be more difficult to diagnose thanks to fairly generic symptoms, which can easily look like flu, colds or sore throats.

But new reports suggest a symptom that could still distinguish the omicron - diarrhea.

The American Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) addressed this symptom and added it to the list of possible symptoms (although for the sake of fairness this list has been greatly expanded and expanded to include almost every known symptom).

According to a report on NBC Chicago, people with a weak immune system or immunosuppression are more likely to experience diarrhea or other gastrointestinal-related symptoms following micronutrient infection.

They added that diarrhea appears near the time of infection, so it is an initial symptom of the disease.

Johns Hopkins Hospital experts also noted that about 20 percent may suffer from diarrhea shortly after infection.
