Usual ballet of figures between government and unions on joining today's teachers' strike against the confusion due to the multiplication of anti-Covid health protocols wanted by President Emmanuel Macron to combat the coronavirus in schools. According to government figures, 38.5% of teachers joined today's strike. SNUipp, the first primary school union announces instead a 75% membership. According to the union, one in two primary schools has remained closed. In the middle and high school, 23.7% of teachers were mobilized in the context of the protest, according to the ministry, while Snes-FSU, the first union of high schools, evokes a membership of 62%.
The French Prime Minister, Jean Castex, sees the trade unions representing Public Education staff on strike to protest the confusion due to the multiplication of anti-Covid health protocols wanted by the government to combat the coronavirus in schools.
Castex "responded positively to the request for a meeting that was addressed to him by the trade unions";
reported the press service of the prime minister in Paris.
The meeting will be held at the Ministry of Education, in the presence of the minister responsible for the sector, Jean-Michel Blanquer, the subject of harsh criticism in recent days.
The Minister of Health, Olivier Véran, who has just tested positive for Covid and is therefore forced into isolation, will participate in a videoconference.
