Whether for childcare or to help with cleaning or washing clothes - many rely on household helpers for such tasks.
A higher statutory minimum wage has been in effect since January 1, 2022.
And that also applies to mini-jobbers * - regardless of whether they are employed in the
commercial sector
or in
private households
, as the consumer advice center NRW informs on its homepage.
The statutory minimum wage has risen from EUR 9.60 to EUR 9.82 per hour this year.
On July 1, 2020, it is to be increased again by a further 63 cents to 10.45 euros per hour.

Mini jobs: Adjustment of the number of hours as a result of higher minimum wages
The
number of hours for a mini job
must be reduced in case of doubt, according to the advice of the consumer advice center.
In addition, marginal employment should only earn a
maximum of 450 euros per month
.
“If the employment is to continue as a 450-euro mini job, the working hours must therefore be recalculated from the turn of the year in order to stay below the income cap.
Otherwise, the employment relationship will be subject to social security, ”said their article from November with a view to the year 2022.
There is another innovation for employers: As of this year, the
tax ID of mini-jobbers
has to be reported, as the mini-job center informed.

Registration at the mini job center
For example , in order not to employ
domestic
helpers in black, they have to be registered with the
mini-job center
, as the German Pension Insurance Fund of the German Press Agency (dpa) also explains in principle.
The quickest way to
register
at the mini job center is online.
The mini-job center then takes over most of the employer's duties, reports dpa on the subject, "for example the calculation and collection of taxes and reporting to accident insurance".
Tax: Employers can deduct part of the expenses
In addition, mini-jobbers acquire
entitlements to benefits from the statutory pension insurance
.
In return,
employers
can , according to dpa, deduct 20 percent of the total expenditure, up to a maximum of 510 euros per year, from
tax
.
