In South Africa, hundreds of thousands of drivers drive with expired driving licenses because the only printing press used for this is currently being repaired in Germany, as reported by the news portal News24, among others.
Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula announced on Wednesday evening an interim solution until the end of March.
In addition, there will be new types of driver's licenses that will be approved at the first cabinet meeting of the year.
According to media reports, the machine was the only one that was still in operation from the printers purchased in the 1990s.
In South Africa, the driver's license has to be renewed every five years.
