(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 13 - The blue Lorenzo Sonego was eliminated in the quarter-finals of the ATP tournament in Sydney, beaten in three sets by the Russian Aslan Karatsev, with a score of 6-2, 3-6,6-2.

The Turin tennis player got off to a bad start, giving up the bar already at the start and again in the seventh game.

Even in the second set he immediately lost his serve but immediately scored the match-break and in the eighth game he repeated himself, drawing the set count shortly after.

In the decisive fraction, the 28-year-old from Vladikavkaz requested a medical time out for a muscle problem, but then slipped in four games in a row and closed the match.

In the semifinals, the Russian will face the American MaximeCressy.

In the other challenge to access the final, the British Andy Murray will face the American Reilly Opelka.
