A single page from a Spider-Man comic fetched a record $3.36 million at an auction in Dallas.
The page is taken from »Secret Wars No.
8« from 1984. In the depicted scene, the hero is seen for the first time in a black body suit.
Fans know that this is his future nemesis, the symbiote Venom.
The graphic comes from the US comic artist Mike Zeck.
The comic page is the world's most valuable page with original comic images, as announced by the auction house Heritage Auctions.
On the same day, a booklet of the comic hero Superman also set a new record: one of the few surviving copies of the "Action Comics" with the number one was sold for 3.18 million dollars (almost 2.8 million euros).
It is one of the most expensive books ever auctioned.
The previous record for an inside of a US comic was held by an excerpt from »The Incredible Hulk« from 1974: Wolverine's appearance was announced here for the first time.
At the auction, the site sold for $657,250.
