(ANSA) - BRAZIL, 14 JAN - In Brazil in the last 24 hours 97,221 new coronavirus infections have been reported, with an average that exceeded 60,000 cases per day in the last week. The nearly one hundred thousand positive diagnoses yesterday indicate a 10% increase compared to 88.4 thousand two days ago and a 737% jump compared to 11.8 thousand on January 3.
The total number of infections since the start of the pandemic stands at 22,815,827, with an average of 60,072 patients per day in the past week, a 634% increase from the numbers 14 days ago. The total number of deaths rose to 620,609, including 190 recorded in the last 24 hours.
Since the start of the vaccination campaign, in January 2021, 145.1 million Brazilians have meanwhile received the two doses of vaccines against Covid-19, which represent 68% of the population, while 161.8 million have received at least one dose, equal to 75.8% of the total.
The data on vaccinations were disseminated by the health secretariats of 16 of the 27 state governments, reports the newspaper O Globo.
