Paul Comiti, a great reporter passionate about Afghanistan and son of journalist and producer Tony Comiti, died in Paris at the age of 51, the Comiti Productions agency announced to AFP on Friday.

," said the agency, which produces documentaries and investigations around the world.

He traveled the world and produced dozens of reports and documentaries for the press agency created by his father in 1993
,” adds Comiti Productions.

Paul Comiti had been one of the rare Western journalists to film the country, in the heart of Afghan chaos, just before the Taliban took power
", says his agency.
He has also toured many countries in the Middle East, from Iran to Iraq, from Lebanon to Israel.

His latest film shot this fall, "

", which follows a previous documentary broadcast this summer on Canal+ ("
Kabul, Au Coeur des Talibans
"), can be viewed from February 1 on the channel encrypted.

During his career, which began at the age of 23, this father of two has won numerous prizes, including the Grand Prix du Scoop d'Angers for his film "
The Devil's Miners
" in 1999 and the Bayeux Prize (for war correspondents) in 2009 for “
Afghan Ambush
”.
His documentaries have notably been broadcast by "Envoyé Spécial" on France 2, "Enquête Exclusive" on M6, "Les Routes de l'impossible" on France 5, TF1, Arte, Canal+ as well as on foreign channels.
