There is an innovation for employers: from this year, the tax ID of mini-jobbers must be reported, as the mini-job center informs.

What that means specifically.

Those who employ

mini-jobbers*

also have to pay taxes;

so that the helpers - for example in the household - are regularly employed, they must be registered with the mini-job center.

The German Press Agency (dpa) reported on this on the occasion of a blog post by the

Minijob-Zentrale

on October 15, which also said: “Even the earnings from a mini-job are taxable.

The employer can decide for himself whether the earnings should be taxed as a lump sum or according to individual characteristics (income tax classes) of the mini-jobber.”

From 2022: Tax ID of mini-jobbers must be reported

According to the dpa report, there will also be an important change for

employers

from 2022: The tax ID should “also be reported in mini jobs from 2022,” says the blog post from the mini job center.

Specifically, from January 2022, the

tax identification number of the mini-jobbers

must be transmitted to the Deutsche Rentenversicherung Knappschaft-Bahn-See in the electronic reporting procedure.

Does the end of October deadline also apply to you?

"The tax ID is only assigned once in a lifetime and remains permanently valid," explains the mini-job center about the eleven-digit tax identification number in general.

For example, it does not change after a name change, a change in marital status or after a move.

"The tax authorities should be able to use the number to carry out permissible checks and to allocate existing information."

Where can employees find the tax ID?

The experts at the mini job center explain where employees can find the

tax ID

:

  • "on the annual income tax statement,

  • the last tax assessment, the last tax return

  • the letter from the BZSt when a tax ID is issued for the first time or

  • the letter from the tax office in October/November 2011 with information about the stored electronic wage tax deduction features (in short: ELStAM)."

Tax ID also to be reported in the mini job from 2022

If these documents cannot be found, the

employee can apply for a new notification of the

tax ID

on the website of the Federal Central Tax

Office, the Minijob-Zentrale also informs in the blog post mentioned.

Employers should “take care of the tax ID of their mini-jobbers at an early stage”, according to the experts’ tip.
