Some may have a bad surprise if they try to go to a restaurant, take a trip to the museum or meet for a drink in a bar this Saturday.

Because, as the government announced at the end of November, adults who have not taken their booster dose when their initial plan dates back more than seven months will have their health pass deactivated.

A measure formalized by a decree published this Friday in the Official Journal, and which had already been in place since mid-December for all over 65s.

A figure difficult to estimate

Hundreds of thousands of French people will be affected by the deactivation of their pass this Saturday. But it is difficult, however, to have an exact figure because, to those who did not take their booster dose on time, there are also those who contracted Covid-19 after their initial vaccination schedule, those who died since and even those who have turned 18 in recent months and for whom the reminder therefore becomes mandatory. So many biases that require the greatest caution when making numerical predictions.

On Tuesday, the Ministry of Health estimated that 800,000 people had to “still carry out their recall to keep their health pass”.

A number “probably overestimated”, we recognized, because among the people who tested positive in recent months, “we do not have the percentage of those who have already made their recall”.

This Thursday morning, Olivier Véran advanced, on France info, that there were "roughly between 500,000 and 700,000 (adults) who, two days ago had not yet received their reminder", while qualifying : among them could be people “who have presented an infection and who have not yet put the proof (…) in their TousAntiCovid system”.

Finally, this Thursday evening, the office of the Minister of Health revealed the figure of 600,000 people likely to lose their precious sesame this Saturday.

Handling necessary for the contaminated

In fact - and since the law aimed at transforming the health pass into a vaccination pass took a few days' delay - people who tested negative within 24 hours can still benefit from a valid health pass, wherever they are in their vaccination.

On the other hand, all adults who received an initial vaccination schedule - that is to say two doses in most cases, only one for people who contracted Covid-19 - before June 15, and who did not not had the virus since, will lose their pass if they have not received their reminder by January 8 (since it takes seven days after the injection for the pass to be valid).

As for people who contracted Covid-19 after their initial scheme, they have a health pass valid for five months without needing to do the reminder. However, it is necessary after these five months and possible as early as three months after infection, specifies the government site. If, in fact, the health pass of a person in this case is therefore valid after his infection, the same does not automatically apply to the QR Code available on the TousAntiCovid application. Because for it to be valid, it is necessary to have entered the proof of the infection. Without this manipulation, the certificate present on the application will become null and void this Saturday.

A new round of deactivations could well take place in a few weeks.

The Minister of Health, Olivier Véran, announced at the very beginning of January in the Sunday Journal that the maximum period for taking his booster dose would increase to four months from February 15.
