A 33-year-old father has been sentenced to eight years in prison for manslaughter after the violent death of his baby.
This was announced by a spokesman for the district court in Hildesheim.
The judges saw it as proven that the man from Hildesheim shook his almost three-month-old son so hard in March that the child suffered massive cerebral hemorrhage and died a little later in the hospital.
Called the ambulance
The 33-year-old denies killing his child.
He was alone in the apartment with the baby and had called the ambulance.
His defense attorney had requested an acquittal.
The public prosecutor's office pleaded for an eight-year prison sentence.
The verdict is not yet legally binding.
