(ANSA) - LONDON, 14 JAN - British Prime Minister BorisJohnson, through his spokesperson, officially apologizes to Buckingham Palace for the two parties that took place in Downing Street the day before Prince Philip's funeral.
"It is completely regrettable that this happened at a time of national mourning," said the spokesman, referring to the funeral of Queen Elizabeth's consort which took place on April 17, while the two farewell parties, one for the outgoing spokesperson of the prime minister, James Slack (now director of the Sun), and the other for a DowningStreet photographer, had been held the previous day, in possible violation of the anti-Covid restrictions then in force. He then in practice reiterated what the conservative premier said in the House of Commons on Wednesday, when he apologized for the series of accusations for the events at the center of the party-gate. Johnsona pointed out that Downing Street is committed to respecting the rules and assuming its responsibilities where it is not done correctly. Even the spokesperson,as done by the Prime Minister, he postponed the independent investigation launched just to shed light on these events that risk costing BoJo very dear. (HANDLE).
