The different mask regulations at Aldi and Co. cause confusion among customers.

This was now also a pregnant woman's undoing.

Mannheim – Concern about the Omicron variant is currently causing the corona rules in the state to change constantly.

Even when shopping, customers from Aldi* and Co. have had to pay attention to a few things since the beginning of the pandemic.

The only problem is that the rules on hygiene measures or the obligation to wear masks are by no means uniform, and not only differ from state to state, but also sometimes in the various retail chains.

There is currently a great deal of confusion, especially with the regulations on the corona mask requirement.

Customers keep turning to the supermarkets and discounters they trust because they were turned away in the branch because of the “wrong” mask.

This happens more frequently, especially in Baden-Württemberg, where an FFP2 mask now has to be worn in many areas.

A heavily pregnant Aldi customer from Mannheim * is now complaining about her suffering on Facebook after she had an unpleasant experience in a branch.

Mask requirement at Aldi: customer complains to discounter – “thrown out when pregnant”

With the new edition of the Corona regulation of Baden-Württemberg, the rules for the FFP2 mask requirement* indoors changed almost overnight, as HEIDELBERG24* already reported. While the mask rule was previously a recommendation, wearing an FFP2 mask became mandatory in certain areas on January 12. This was now the fatality of a pregnant woman from Mannheim when she wanted to go shopping with a surgical mask on the day of the rule change.

"I was just thrown out of Aldi in Mannheim when I was very pregnant because I wasn't wearing an FFP2 mask," the woman complained on Aldi Süd's Facebook page.

"In general, I found the handling of the situation questionable, but that the situation was being approached by your employees without any sense of proportion... to be honest, I don't have the words for this," the Aldi customer continues.

The instructions were apparently implemented by the employees "without regard to losses".

FFP2 mask requirement at Aldi: Pregnant customer demands “more humanity”

In connection with her being thrown out due to the lack of an FFP2 mask, the Aldi customer complains that “any humanity” was missing in this situation. "According to the employee, you can't make an exception because of everything," she continues to describe the incident. "However, my 39th week of pregnancy cannot really be overlooked and that pregnancy - especially towards the end - can be difficult is nothing new," defends the customer. "I hope for more humanity in the future!" She ends her Facebook post.

The pregnant woman's complaint is not the only one of its kind on Aldi Süd's Facebook page.

Recently, another customer complained because his elderly father was thrown out of an Aldi branch in Baden-Württemberg due to the lack of an FFP2 mask.* In the Facebook community, many customers were able to understand the man's anger – or described similar experiences.

Other users, on the other hand, defended the dealer's domiciliary rights to be allowed to implement the FPP2 mask requirement in their branches.

Aldi: Pregnant women without an FFP2 mask rejected – this is how the discounter reacts to the complaint

Aldi Süd's social media team takes the pregnant customer's complaint seriously - but also points out that the employees in the branches are required to implement the FFP2 rule in Baden-Württemberg. "If the way we treated you was harsh, then of course we're very sorry," an employee apologizes to the woman. “However, we are bound by the current legal decisions and have to implement them on site. Since (...) wearing an FFP2 or comparable mask is mandatory in BW, our employees must also implement this."

Other Aldi customers join the discounter in the comments.

"Pregnant women don't have any special rights when it comes to this and I don't think it's okay to ask for something like that," says one customer.

“Absolutely correct behavior by Aldi employees!” comments another person.
