These days there are blood shortages in several regions, due to the new wave of infections from Omicron.
There are already five Regional Structures that have appealed to the interregional compensation system - Tuscany, Lombardy, Veneto, Abruzzo, Lazio - but signs of concern are also coming from the rest of the territory.
This was stated by the National Blood Center (Cns).
At the moment 1,240 bags of blood are requested, but "it is probable that the numbers could worsen causing the postponement of elective surgery".
Hence the Cns appeal to donate to "guarantee the continuity of health care activities".
