(ANSA) - MELBOURNE, JANUARY 16 - Novak Djokovic will be expelled from Australia.

The Federal Court rejected the world's number 1 tennis player's appeal.

Djokovic, who is not vaccinated, lost the battle to avoid deportation from the country after the government canceled his visa for the second time for public health reasons.

Federal Court judges unanimously rejected his appeal to stay to defend the title at the AustralianOpen which opens tomorrow.

"The decision of the court is that the request be rejected with the legal costs to be borne by the tennis player", reads the sentence arrived on the eve of the start of the tournament during which the Serbian would attempt the record of the 21st Grand Slam title.
