The Excellence and Creativity Authority has completed its preparations for launching the final qualifiers for the Syrian Scientific Olympiad 2022 during the period between January 17-2022, to select members of the national teams that will participate in international and international Olympiad competitions in the disciplines of “mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology and informatics.”

And 384 male and female students from different governorates are participating in the final exams, according to a statement by the Excellence and Creativity Commission, a copy of which SANA received today, including the students who achieved first ranks in the Junior Science Olympiad, the School Programming Competition, and the Programming Marathon for young and old in the 2021 season, in addition to the first students in the Syrian Scientific Olympiad. During the past two seasons, they took their standardized test to determine their current scientific level, which qualifies them to remain in the ranks of the national science teams in which they excelled.

The final qualifiers, according to the commission’s statement, include two rounds over the next Tuesday and Wednesday, each lasting four continuous hours for “mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology” specializations in the halls of the Ebla Hotel and the Umayyad Conference Palace in Damascus, and five continuous hours for the specialization of informatics in the halls of the Faculty of Informatics Engineering at Damascus University.

The Commission indicated that the scientific committees in the Syrian Scientific Olympiad will carry out correction operations and calculate the final marks of the participants according to the outcome of the two tests. And certificates of appreciation, so that this year will be similar to coronation in the international Olympiads, where medals are awarded in each scientific subject as follows: 10% gold medals, 20% silver medals, 40% bronze medals, and 30% appreciation certificates.

Winners of gold and silver medals, according to the commission’s statement, become members of the national team for the scientific subject in which they distinguished, after which the journey of international and global ambitions begins, and their training begins directly by the scientific committees of the Excellence and Creativity Commission.

The Commission pointed out that the "Science Challenge" competition will be launched during the final qualifiers, which will be held in conjunction with the selection tests next March, indicating that the competition aims to give a new opportunity to obtain membership in the national teams of the Syrian Scientific Olympiad for the holders of bronze medals and certificates of appreciation in the current final qualifiers. The participant must choose a specialty other than the one he participated in in the final qualifiers for the 2022 Syrian Scientific Olympiad.

The final qualifiers for the Olympiad, according to the Commission’s statement for this year, are characterized by the active presence of members of the Association of Excellence and Creativity Alumni through their volunteer initiatives, “Ambassadors of the Scientific Olympiad,” which began at the beginning of the current season with tours of schools in the governorates to introduce first-year secondary students to the Scientific Olympiad, in addition to their active voluntary initiatives in training and organization During the Olympic stages all the way to the final competitive leg.

The competitions for the new season of the Syrian Scientific Olympiad were launched on the twenty-third of last October, with the participation of about 6,000 male and female students from the first secondary grade and the winning students in the Scientific Olympiad for adolescents from different governorates.
