Lünen: Woman tries to catch the train and loses fingers

In Lünen, a woman wanted to board a train at the last minute, but slipped and fell off the edge of the platform. She was just able to save herself - but a finger was rolled over.

Be careful when the train comes: While trying to open the door of a departing train, a woman had an accident at the main station in Lünen (Unna district) in Westphalia and lost a finger.

According to witnesses, the 61-year-old slipped, fell and fell between the moving train and the edge of the platform on Friday evening, the federal police said.

Witnesses called rescue workers

According to the information, the woman was still able to press against the edge of the platform, but one finger got on the tracks and was run over by the train.

Witnesses immediately called an ambulance.

The woman was taken to a hospital.

Federal police officers on site secured the tracks.

After about an hour, the railway track was released again on Friday evening, according to the police.
