Two people were seriously injured in an accident in the Erbeskopf winter sports area on Sunday.
According to the police, a mother and her son drove down the ski slope in the Hunsrück at high speed with the tube of a tractor tire.
Apparently they lost control and crashed into an old wooden hut.
As the police announced on request, another woman was hit by the tire – she too is said to have been injured, but probably more easily.
According to the police, the rescue measures were extremely difficult because of onlookers, ice and the impassable terrain.
The police appealed to visitors to the winter sports area to "be particularly careful when using the ski and toboggan runs due to the current ground conditions".
