Salmonella is a common reason for product recalls.
Because the germ was detected in a salad, the item was taken off the shelves.
Neuss - Poisoning with salmonella can be very dangerous.
Therefore, consumers and manufacturers quickly prick up their ears when there is a possible contamination with the germs.
The manufacturer Natsu Foods from North Rhine-Westphalia therefore launched a recall for its vegan salad.
Recall due to salmonella risk: vegan salad triggers gastrointestinal diseases
In a press release, the company informed that Salmonella had been found during its own examinations. The product "Natsu Salad Quinoa Nuts vegan" with the consumption date of January 16, 2022 is affected. Customers who have already purchased this item can bring it back to the store. "The purchase price will of course be refunded, even without presenting the receipt," says the press release.
"Natsu Foods" strongly advises against eating the salad: the germ could "cause gastrointestinal diseases and, under certain circumstances, a serious illness (salmonellosis) in sensitive groups of people".
The product thus poses a risk to food safety. Characteristics of salmonella poisoning include malaise, diarrhea, vomiting or fever, as the consumer

shows.
The incubation period after consumption is usually 48 hours.
According to the manufacturer, all other products are still suitable for consumption.

Recall of "Natsu Foods" product: 12 federal states affected
As the portal of the federal states and the Federal Office for Consumer Protection and Food Safety (BVL) informs, the federal states of Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Berlin, Hamburg, Hesse, Lower Saxony, North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, Schleswig- Holstein and Thuringia affected.
Not only salmonella is a common reason for product recalls: shards of glass or plastic also often cause manufacturers to take their products off the shelves.
This is also the case with the jam from a Danish manufacturer.
But not only groceries are affected by complaints: The car manufacturer Mercedes had to recall some electric cars because of the risk of fire.
