(ANSA) - BEIJING, JANUARY 17 - The birth rate in China has fallen to an all-time low in 2021, reaching a ratio of 7.52 births per 1,000 people, down from 8.52 in 2020. According to data from the Office national statistics, this is the lowest figure ever recorded in the country's Yearbook since 1978 and is also the lowest since the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949. Last year the country recorded a total of 10.62 million births.
