They do not intend to demobilize.

Several national education unions launched a new strike call on January 27 after a first day of action on Thursday.

In this joint appeal to education personnel, published this Sunday, FSU, CGT Educ'Action, FO, Sud Éducation, FCPE, Voix Lycéenne, MNL, FIDL highlight the success of the mobilization day last Thursday.

“The strike of staff and all actors in the educational community has a strong impact, and (…) we can obtain satisfaction on our demands”, argue the unions in their press release.

Their mobilization last week, to protest against the health protocols imposed in schools, had resulted in several government announcements.

The union representatives had been received by the Prime Minister, Jean Castex, as well as the Ministers of Health and Education.

Ads that “are not enough”

Jean-Michel Blanquer had thus announced the provision of “5 million FFP2 masks” for kindergarten teachers on request and the distribution of surgical masks from the start of this week for education personnel.

Above all, he announced the arrival of reinforcements with 8,000 contract workers hired until the end of the school year, but also the postponement of CP evaluations.

Announcements that “are not sufficient”, consider the unions in their press release.

In particular, they want the complete cancellation of CP assessments, the postponement of specialty tests – a proposal that the Minister of Education had already explained “analyze” after the strike last Thursday.

The trade unions are also calling for the creation of additional positions as well as “Sufficient protective equipment, well beyond the volumes announced and including for students”.

The press release also details demands that go beyond the health crisis alone with "massive recruitment", a reduction in class numbers and an increase in salaries.
