Some would say it is outdated, but with taste it is impossible to argue.

Alfredo sauce or as we like to call it - "cream and mushroom sauce", is perhaps the simplest, light and delicious sauce there is.
True, it's a little heavy and some would say outdated, but that never made us give it up.
Hollywood actors Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks fell in love with this sauce as soon as they first ate it at Chef Alfredo Di Lello's on their 1927 honeymoon in Italy.
According to legend, when they returned to the United States, they asked for the rich butter sauce to be prepared for them, and this is how "Alfredo sauce" became so popular.

Originally the sauce mostly contained a lot of butter and was served with fettuccine pasta, but we know there is no child who would not be happy to eat it with any type of pasta whatsoever.
Besides, pasta is by no means the only carb that alfredo sauce will throw into the realms of happiness - if to this day you have not tried potatoes in a cream and mushroom sauce, shakshuka with cream and mushrooms or paired the sauce with homemade potato borax, this is the time.

Prepare the sauce:
Melt the butter with a tablespoon of olive oil in a wide pan over medium heat, add the onion and sauté until slightly golden.
3 Using a spoon, move the onion to the end of the pan and add the mushrooms in the area created.
Burn them a little and add the garlic.
Stir.
4 Pour the cream, stir and heat until gently boiling.
5 Season with salt, black pepper and nutmeg.

If you want to dilute the cream and mushroom sauce a little, you can add up to a quarter cup of the pasta cooking water to the sauce and mix well.
