Echoing recent statements by scientists and slowing contamination figures, the government spokesperson

"We have reason to be optimistic" about the Covid-19 epidemic in France, the figures of which show a slight improvement, government spokesman Gabriel Attal said on Tuesday.

“We see that the Delta wave has really regressed, that the circulation tends to slow down, and that in the regions where the Omicron wave started first, in particular in Ile-de-France, there is what seems to be the beginning of a 'a decline,' he noted on CNews.

"I think we have reason to be optimistic today," he concluded, relying on "the statements of a number of scientists" going in the same direction in recent days.

“Always cautious on these issues”

“We see that in our intensive care units, the situation has stabilized, the tension is no longer increasing, now we obviously have to remain vigilant and continue our efforts”, he continued, saying to himself “always cautious on these questions”.

“I always base myself on what the scientists say: it is not a political or government choice to say that the peak has arrived or that the situation is improving,” said Mr. Attal.
