(ANSA) - BOLZANO, 18 JAN - Almost exactly one year after the collapse that destroyed the Eberle hotel in Bolzano, the debris removal work has begun.
"This is a very demanding job, because the material must be separated according to its type", owner Stefan Zisser tells ANSA.
"After this first phase of removal, the rock wall will be made safe and only then can the actual demolition work begin", he explains.
On January 5, 2021, a landslide destroyed the hotel, fortunately without causing casualties, as the structure was closed due to a pandemic.
The structure, which overlooks the city and which is located near the famous promenades of Sant'Osvaldo, was invested by about 2,000 cubic meters of rocks, which, around 3.15pm, broke off leaving a wound about forty meters high on the wall, still today clearly visible, which will now be secured.
"Even if the future is still uncertain and the reconstruction of our hotel is still a long way off, it is important not to sit still and take a first step", says Zisser with satisfaction.
For the duration of the works it will not be possible for pedestrians to cross the construction site area to descend from the Sant'Osvaldo promenades towards Santa Maddalena di Sotto.
