Police have found the body of a young boy in the Netherlands.
It is said to be a four-year-old who had apparently been kidnapped from Belgium.
The body was discovered in the south of the country on the artificial island of Neeltje Jans, a popular destination for Dutch tourists.
The boy disappeared in Belgium five days ago.
On Monday, the police arrested a 34-year-old Belgian in the city of Meerkerk, about 120 kilometers northeast of where the body was found.
The child was last seen last Wednesday in the company of this man in the Belgian town of Sint Niklaas near Antwerp, public television NOS reported.
The man regularly looked after the boy and his younger sister, the child's mother told the Belga news agency.
The man was supposed to bring the child to his grandparents on Thursday.
When this did not happen, the mother reported the boy missing.
