There was a mix-up with a product from the Koro company, which is sold by the drugstore chain DM.

This could have fatal consequences for some customers.

Dortmund – A muesli bar or a so-called energy ball is an ideal snack for when you get hungry.

But not if it contains other ingredients than those stated on the package - then a snack can even become a real health risk for some customers.

A product sold by DM is currently affected by this issue.

The manufacturer has therefore informed about a recall and prompted an immediate sales stop, as reported by RUHR24*.

Recall at DM: Snack from Koro affected by sales stop

The recall of the muesli snack is specifically about a product from the company Koro - a company that specializes primarily in long-life foods in efficient large packs.

The products are sold, among other things, via their own web shop, but also at drugstores such as DM, Rossmann or Müller.

As Koro himself states, only DM is affected by the current recall.

The snack was sold exclusively through the drugstore branches.

The following information on the recall of the product must be observed:

  • Article: KoRo Bio Energy Ball Salted Pistachio

  • Content: 30 grams

  • Best before date: 10.2022

  • Batch: L28821253

DM recall: Snack can no longer be sold due to fatal mix-up

But what is the problem with the Energy Ball at DM?

According to Koro, there was a fatal mix-up with the snack, which is why the recall was initiated.

The affected batch does not contain the "Salted Pistachio" variety, but "Salted Peanut".

For people with a peanut allergy, this can end badly if eaten.

According to the non-profit European Center for Allergy Research Foundation (ECARF), one in ten children is allergic to peanuts.

However, that does not mean that the allergy has to actually break out.

Nevertheless, a peanut allergy is one of the most common food intolerances - even in adults.

If people accidentally eat a product containing peanuts, it can trigger nasty symptoms.

In addition to itching, tingling in the mouth and throat, reddening of the skin or nausea, in the worst case it can lead to shortness of breath and life-threatening anaphylactic shock.

However, the extent of the allergic reaction can vary greatly from person to person.

Recall of Koro product at DM: Notification comes with a delay

People who suffer from a peanut allergy should therefore take the recall seriously.

All other customers can consume the Energy Balls sold at DM without hesitation.

But there is another problem with the snack recall.

According to the consumer

portal productwarning.eu

, the error became known in December.

However, the announcement of the recall has only now reached the public.

Customers who have the snack in their pantry are therefore urged to check to see if they may have purchased the affected batch.

But despite the delay, consumers can return the Koro snack to any DM branch, as is always the case with recalls.

You should be refunded the purchase price even without presenting the receipt.

What are Energy Balls?

Energy balls are small balls of energy that are usually made up of dried fruit, cereal flakes, nuts or nut butter.

They are often consumed as a supposedly healthy alternative to chocolate bars, since in most cases they do not contain any industrial sugar, but only get their sweetness from dried fruit.
