(ANSA) - LONDON, 18 JAN - The kidnapper who died in the attack in a synagogue in Texas, the British citizen of Islamic family roots Malik Faisal Akram, was known to the authorities of the United Kingdom.
This was revealed by Sky News citing ministerial sources.
MI5's counter-terrorism service began investigating him in the second half of 2020 to assess whether he posed a security threat.
Suspicions had arisen regarding Islamist terrorism.
The assessment was concluded quickly and it was ruled out that Akram posed a threat.
