(ANSA) - ROME, JANUARY 18 - In Italy 11.8% of workers find themselves in a situation of poverty, that is, they live, while working, in a family with a net income of less than 60% of the median compared to 9.2% EU 28. It is one of the data contained in the Report of the Commission of the Ministry of Labor on labor poverty (referring to Eurostat data 2019 and therefore preceding the pandemic) according to which it would be necessary to change strategy to concretely support these workers.
Among the proposals is the introduction of a minimum wage but also support for those who work but have a too low income, a sort of "in-work benefit".
