Covid: Fiaso report, adult hospitalizations decrease, pediatric ones rise by 27.5%

Covid hospitalizations of adult patients are slowing down, while those of children increase by 27.5%

.

This is what emerges from the latest report of the sentinel hospitals of the Italian Federation of health and hospital companies.

The survey was carried out on January 18 and concerns a total of 2,339 adult patients.

In one week, from 11 to 18 January, the increase was 7.1%. A much lower increase than the 18% acceleration recorded in the previous week, January 4-11. The increase in ICU admissions is slightly higher at 9% but slowing down from last week's surge of 18%.  

In the same week, hospitalizations of pediatric patients increased by 27.5%

In the 4 pediatric hospitals and in the pediatric wards of the sentinel hospitals in Fiaso, the number of children hospitalized has gone from

120 to 153, of which 10 in intensive care

.

Of the little patients, 34% are less than 6 months old.

Overall, almost 2 out of 3 of hospitalized minors (61%) are under the age of 4 and are therefore in an age group that cannot be vaccinated while 25% are between 5 and 11 years old.
