Female employment falls for the first time since 2013: according to data from the 2020 Gender Balance, in the year of the outbreak of the pandemic it dropped to 49%, a decline felt more among young women, in the South and in the Islands.
In the EU, 62.7% of women are employed.
Especially women with children are penalized: 25% less than their peers without children are employed.
The growth of female businesses is also slowing down, after a steady increase since 2014. Little progress on the executive front: in 2020 there is no female CEO in large companies listed on the Italian stock exchange.
