High bar Olympic champion Fabian Hambüchen proposed marriage to his partner Viktoria Feldbusch while on vacation in the Maldives.
"It was exactly as I had always imagined and wished for," said the 34-year-old to the magazine "Bunte".
For the big question, he got on his knees in front of his girlfriend in the evening at sunset on the white sandy beach.
At first she was completely surprised and speechless.
Feldbusch finally said yes to him with tears in his eyes.
"It was just a magical moment that I can't compare to anything," said Hambüchen.
According to "Bild", he did not expect his application to be rejected: "I would have to be blind." His fiancée is his soul mate: "Vicky is one or none."
Hambüchen is a former German gymnast who became Olympic champion on horizontal bar in 2016.
Viktoria Feldbusch, 30, is a CrossFit trainer.
According to "Bunte", the two met during CrossFit training in September 2020.
They made their relationship public in early 2021.
