The ZDF format "Bares for Rares" always ensures satisfied sellers.

But sometimes the items for sale don't even make it into the dealership.

Hella Wermund had a fixed price in mind when she faced moderator Horst Lichter and art historian Heide Rezepa-Zabel at "Bares for Rares*".

"I'm hoping for four figures," Wermund replied when asked about the desired price for two small earrings from the 1910s or 1920s.

Half-carat diamonds are set in the short gold earrings - but they have a few quirks.

Part of the diamond on one earring broke off.

And there are also inclusions that affect the selling price, says Heide Rezepa-Zabel.

For these reasons, the art historian Rezepa-Zabel estimates the price of the ear jewelery at 700 to 900 euros.

The surprised saleswoman then responds with "Excuse me?" and is visibly confused.

The travel entrepreneur from Bischberg had hoped for more, since

it is antique ear jewelery that her ex-husband gave her.

Damage to the earring lowers the price: "Bares for Rares" participant does not want to go to the dealer room

The gold value of the earrings is around 110 euros, as Rezepa-Zabel explains.

She estimates the diamonds at around 500 euros because a piece of the diamond broke off.

The cash-for-rares expert added that a higher price would be possible.

Lovers in particular could put more money into their hands.

But Hella Wermund's decision is clear after talking to Lichter and the expert:

"I have an acquaintance who asked me not to sell for less than 1,000.

She would buy it herself," says the 79-year-old

.

This put her in the list of those who rejected the dealer card and took the items they were selling home with them.
