Corona virus vaccines given over the past three months provide high protection against infection with the omicron variant, according to the analysis of morbidity data.
The data analysis, conducted by a team of researchers from the Ministry of Health, the Weizmann Institute of Science, the Technion, the Hebrew University and the Gartner Institute at Sheba Medical Center, examined the benefit of vaccines among children and adolescents.
The analysis found that even during the omicron wave period, a vaccine given in the last three months, whether in two doses or in a booster dose, provides better protection against infection, compared to unvaccinated or immunized vaccines.
The data also show that children aged 11-5 who have been vaccinated with two doses in the last two months are twice as protected as those who have not been vaccinated at all.
In addition, teens ages 15-12 who received the booster dose in the past two months were found to be four times more protected than those who were not vaccinated at all.
