(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 20 - By a majority, in a session chaired by the head of state, the CSM plenum confirmed the top of the Supreme Court after the Council of State canceled the 2020 appointment of the first president Pietro Curzio and his deputy Margherita Cassano. Nineteen votes were in favor, 3 against and three abstentions. The layman of the Lega Stefano Cavanna and the independent togates Sebastiano Ardita and Nino Di Matteo voted against, while the three directors of Unicost abstained. A dissent motivated by the too tight deadlines of the procedure and with the shortcomings of the new resolution that would leave the findings of the administrative judges unresolved. Expressing his best wishes to the top of the Cassazione, Mattarella instead thanked the Board of Directors and the plenum for the "timeliness" of the decisions they ensure "the full operation of the exercise of relevant functions for the judiciary ".
