In order to be able to test themselves for the corona virus at home, many people use self-tests.

But they are not always safe.

An online tool can help.

Munich – The rapid corona test for at home is the perfect solution for being able to test yourself for the corona virus easily and without having to go to the nearest test station.

But not all tests are so sensitive that they actually detect the virus.

Consumers therefore now have an online tool that they can use to check whether the test they have bought is actually reliable and has a high detection rate.

It was developed by the “zerforschung” collective.

Check the sensitivity of the quick test: This is very easy with an app or on the Internet

Users only have to scan the barcode on the packaging with the “Schnell-Test” app or on the Internet at “schnelltest.de” and the result is then spit out.

Alternatively, you can enter the code manually.

And this is what it looks like:

The quick test app shows how sensitive a quick test for at home is.

Online tool shows how sensitive a self-test is: Paul-Ehrlich-Institut has examined many tests

For the results, zerforschung uses the database of the Paul Ehrlich Institute.

Before the Omikron variant appeared on the scene, this tested the effectiveness of numerous quick tests (study as of 01/2022).

So it may well be that some tests do not respond to the omicron variant.

The only thing that helps is going to the PCR test.
