The coastal plain in Israel, which stretches along the water line of the Mediterranean Sea for about 190 kilometers, creates beautiful lagoons and beaches for us.

Beyond the central beaches, which are characterized by sand and a large strip of beach, there are also rocky beaches, shells and impressive lagoons.

Achziv's beach strip consists of several declared beaches, and a number of undeclared beaches.

Many people claim that this is one of the most spectacular coastal strips in Israel, with lagoons and special pools.

According to the dictionary definition, a lagoon is a shallow water area separated from the sea by various strips of sand, or reefs of various kinds.

At Achziv beach next to Nahariya, there is such a special lagoon.

The blocked cave

Beyond the uniqueness of each lagoon, whoever looks at it from above can not help but notice its shape that accurately simulates an eye, hence its name "Blue Eye Lagoon".

This lagoon is connected to the sea by a small cave, through which the water passes from and to the sea.

A few years ago several people drowned at the site, as they decided to enter the cave, and all of a sudden it was filled with water.

Since then the authorities have blocked the cave openings and today it is not possible to enter it from any side.

In addition, as the lagoon is separated from the sea, it is protected from the waves, meaning it is safer and also suitable for small children.

Despite the limit of entry to it, around the lagoon itself there is plenty of space that allows for comfortable and not too crowded seating.

It is highly recommended to come at all times of the year, especially in winter and summer.

In winter it is an amazing and romantic spot to watch the sunset, while in summer it is an amazing beach that is fun to dip in.

This is one of the most spectacular coastal strips in Israel.

How to get to the lagoon?

Wise:

"The Blue Eye Lagoon."

Reach the parking lot of Achziv Beach, but do not park there but continue to the southwest side of the parking lot and drive on an asphalt road along the sea for about 300 meters.

Park the vehicle on the side through dirt, and the lagoon will be just below.

1. For anyone who wants to come with wine / food / coffee shop - there are stone terraces right next to the lagoon, which you can sit on comfortably and enjoy a crazy sunset.

2. In this part of the beach there is no shade so it is important to arrive ready and prepared if necessary 3.
