Catalonia: Supreme Court, 25% lessons must be in Spanish

(ANSA) - MADRID, 21 JAN - At least 25% of the lessons in schools in Catalonia must be carried out with Spanish as the vehicular language: this is what is established by a sentence of the Supreme Court, now declared definitive by the Catalan regional court after the last appeal in this regard was rejected.

   In the latest resolution, the regional government is established, which takes 10 days to make the judicial decision effective. This deadline may instead be subject to appeal.

    That of the languages ​​used in Catalan schools is a question that has for some time aroused debates and controversies in Catalonia, where the current political leaders of the region (with an independence tendency) and part of the educational community support the need to use Catalan as the main vehicle language, to prevent its diffusion between the population is reduced.

On the other hand, some families have asked that part of the lessons in Spanish be guaranteed.
